 What is it?

The Gorman Meath Hill 110kV project, which is being developed by EirGrid, is a 110kV single circuit overhead electricity line linking the Gorman substation at Causetown in County Meath with the Meath Hill substation at Meath Hill, County Meath. The total line length is approximately 27km. The 110kV single circuit line will consist of five continuous wires supported on double wood pole structures. Where the line changes direction and terminates, the wires will be supported on lattice steel structures.

 Why is it needed?

This project is a reinforcement project. Electricity demand in County Meath has increased in recent years due to new housing and industry.  The loss of some elements of the transmission system in this area will lead to unacceptable overloading and possible outages in areas of County Meath.

 Once complete this scheme will:

·        Solve the identified overloading and voltage problems

 ·        Increase supply quality

·        Facilitate future development in the area.
